New Twists to Old Ideas
- Written by Anonymous
It's easy to get stuck in the rut of "dinner and a movie". Unfortunately, we are often quiet through dinner as we relax from the day or focused on just catching up with the business of marriage and parenting. Watching a movie is focused outside of us and then we go home.
One simple twist we added is to have a simplier (read lower-cost) dinner and follow the movie with dessert at a near-by coffee house. By now we've had enough time to relax and it's easier to talk with each other. We start by talking about the movie and our thoughts and beliefs about it. What did we like about the main character? How is our marriage different from the one on the screen. We then see where this conversation takes us being careful not to "go there" with relational explosive topics.
