Benjamin Adamson, MA

BenAdamson

Ben’s desire is to see lives and relationships transformed; his included.

As a therapist, Ben is genuine and practical. He brings a calm and steady presence to the counseling room. Reducing distressing symptoms is necessary and helpful in counseling; however, Ben also aims to help clients address the deeper longings behind their distress, and learn to meet those needs in a God-honoring way.

Ben enjoys working with couples at all stages in life, but holds a particular passion for pre-engaged and pre-marital couples. Holding to the belief that couples who start in the right direction usually end up where they want to be, Ben enjoys helping newly-wed couples sort through the expectations and realities of married life.

Ben believes when it comes to relationships, and especially marriage, men often encounter a unique set of challenges and setbacks. To that end, he finds great importance helping men navigate those obstacles, encouraging them to believe they do have what it takes to be the husband, father, and leader God has called them to be.

He is open to working with clients from all backgrounds and doesn’t believe in a “one-size fits all” approach to counseling.

Being a Christian is never a prerequisite to seeking my help; however, my Christian faith is the lens through which I see all areas of life, including my approach to counseling. I am a firm believer in Christ's power to restore and heal.

Counseling is highly relational. Ben firmly believes that one of the most important factors in having a successful outcome in counseling is the strength of the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client.

As a Georgia Bulldog, Ben earned his undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Georgia in hopes of eventually serving as a counselor. Several years later, his hope became a reality as he earned his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Richmont Graduate University, and joined the team at Building Intimate Marriages, Inc. as an Associate Therapist.  While he pursues dual licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselor, Ben practices under the direction and supervision of Michael Sytsma (PhD, LPC, CST, CSAS, CPCS).

Outside of the counseling office, Ben enjoys going on adventures with his wife, Sarah, and browsing the aisles of any sporting goods store.
