Speaking at Asbury Seminary

Dr. Sytsma had the honor of being the invited speaker for the Cessna Lecture* this year at Asbury Seminary. The title of the talk was:

Cultivating Sexual Health and Integrity in Staff and Church

"It's always a bit intimidating speaking to an audience of pastors in training," said Dr. Sytsma. "I don't remember doing particularly well in homoletics class. Yet," he continued, "it is an honor to be asked to present on a subject that is critical to the church, our faith, and the lives and ministry of pastors."

Dr. Sytsma encouraged them to focus on God's vision for sex (four critical examples of this), to honor the boundaries, respect the masculine and feminine, develop intentional accountable relationships, and to remember grace.

Dr. Mike Teaches at Grace Fellowship Date Night

Share |

Dr. Mike was a recent guest speaker at Grace Fellowship Snellville's Date Night. The last weekend of February (2012) was a "Pursuing Passions" weekend at GFC. Special guests Josh McDowell, Greg Boone and Dr. Sytsma each spoke during the weekend event. Dr. Mike spoke on Pursuing Passion and Oneness in Marriage before couples went out on a date together.

Dr. Mike's talk focused on pursuing Christ's passion of Oneness in our marriage. Points included what oneness is NOT (i.e., loosing self) as well as barriers to oneness: focusing on parts of each other, not keeping the marriage sacred, and selfishness. He ended with encouraging couples to remain curious about each other.

Couldn't be there? You can view the entire 46 minute talk online thanks to GFC. We invite you to set aside some time, view the message, and see how God challenges you.
