The Story…

We are excited to share an opportunity for you to partner with us in making a great impact on the lives of many in Romania.

Like elsewhere around the world, many individuals and couples in Romania struggle with sexual issues, yet there is a scarcity of trained counselors who can provide the necessary support, especially from a Christian perspective. Recognizing this gap, Anda Magos, a Romanian psychotherapist, pastor’s wife, and graduate of the ISW program developed by Dr. Sytsma, has established a program to train Romanian counselors in addressing sexual issues within a Christian framework. She and her team have worked hard to establish this training and will continue to maintain and expand the program, providing ongoing training for local therapists.

The first two modules of this five-module program will be offered this September, and Dr. Sytsma has been asked to fly in and establish a strong foundation for the program by co-teaching these initial courses. Dr. Sytsma, the developer of the Institute for Sexual Wholeness (ISW) program, has trained hundreds of counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and pastors in addressing sexual issues from a Christian perspective. He has shared his expertise as a professor at institutions like Asbury Theological Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, Reformed Theological Seminary, Denver Seminary, Richmont Graduate, Rosemead School of Psychology, and others. He presents at professional conferences and was the primary instructor in starting a Christian sex therapy training program in London, England.

The Romanian team is covering the costs of establishing this training. However, as it alligns with our ministry and vision, Building Intimate Marriages has committed to absorbing some of the costs to allow Dr. Sytsma to teach these initial classes. We believe this is a worthy investment in the Kingdom of God, and we invite you to partner with us at whatever level you wish. Your support will help spread the truth of healthy sexuality in Romania, ultimately transforming lives and relationships through faith-based counseling.

About our fundraising

While we are a non-profit charity in the State of Georgia, we believe general operating expenses and salaries should be paid by receipts for the services we provide.

We use GiveButter to manage our donations. You can give a one-time gift or set up monthly donations. Money donated to BIM goes to two specific purposes – special projects or our scholarship fund.

So, do my contributions go to general operating expenses or salaries?

No. You can specifically request that your funds go to our general operating expenses, but not to salaries. We offer valuable services, and the groups and individuals who access those services pay for them. We use these service fees to pay salaries and general operating expenses, just like any other successful business would. We believe this is important. Your donations help those who need specific assistance or help us fund new services that wouldn’t happen without your support. Let us know if you need additional specifics.

Are my gifts tax deductible?

Yes, your gifts are tax deductible. Building Intimate Marriages, Inc. is registered as a 501(c)(3) corporation, meaning the IRS recognizes us as a non-profit charity. We are also registered as a charity in the State of Georgia. This means contributions to Building Intimate Marriages, Inc. count as tax-deductible donations, similar to giving to any other charity or church. (Please contact your tax advisor for specifics on how this might impact your situation.) If not provided upon receipt, you will receive a letter in January identifying your donations, which you can use when preparing your taxes.
