Growing up, I was always interested in people’s stories. It was a way for me to better understand what made that person unique, what made that person like me and to take me to experiences that I had never been. I truly believe that God wants to reveal Himself through our story as He has for centuries before us. That is one of the many reasons that I pursued the counseling profession so that I could hear the story that God is writing in others.
Many times, when we are in tough or broken places, our story doesn’t make sense or seems to not be going anywhere. I am interested in joining alongside individuals and couples who are in the place of wonderless and help bring them to a closer place of wonderment.
Many times, people feel alone in their struggles. My hope is to create a safe space for clients to feel heard, validated and understood. This in turn affects how they will learn to hear others, validate others and attempt to understand others. This is a process and involves you as the client to be challenged to grow into the fullness of all that God has instore for you.
Trust is an important key to connection. We will endeavor to earn each other’s trust, building each time your story is shared, and I will be present to hold on to it in that sacred space. It is not my story, it belongs to you. In thinking about God’s kingdom, we all play a role in His family. I once heard someone say, “We are one family. We can only move forward when we trust each other,” that is a beautiful process that can happen within therapy.
The counseling process can be uncomfortable and exposing. There is a chance that you will feel broken and vulnerable. Ann Voscamp once said, “You will see as much healing in your life as you let people see the brokenness in your life. You are as healable as you are vulnerable”. If change is what you are seeking, then going through the challenge of seeking healing through being authentic, being willing to work hard on yourself, and renewing your heart and mind will bring the hope and healing that you are seeking toward meeting your goals.
